Primary Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Fuels Engineer are you looking for a new "home" where your employer's values are aligned with yours? HDR is looking for a Mechanical Fuels Engineer to participate in the design of liquid petroleum fuel systems. Types of fuels systems include: above ground operational and bulk storage systems, hydrant fuel distribution systems, marine transload and distribution systems, vehicle on and off loading systems, and supporting pipeline, pump and mechanical systems. The duties of this position include but are not limited to:
- Providing analysis, evaluation and design of fuel systems for both military and commercial clients.
- Preparing construction documents.
- Preparing project design proposals, performing fuel system site investigations; validating and refining project scopes of work; and preparing/reviewing construction cost estimates.
- Reviewing construction shop drawings for compliance with contract requirements and adherence to contract requirements.
- Engineering of fuel (including liquid jet fuel) handling, storage and dispensing in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and API requirements
- Preparing construction documents including drawings and technical specifications
- BIM software for design and production
- DoD and commercial fuel system functionality, equipment and materials used in construction
- Criteria related to military fueling systems design and construction
- Military specifications for fuels and fueling components and fuel industry specifications
- Evaluating coating and corrosion protection systems
- Analyzing situations accurately and adopting an effective course of action
- Meeting schedules and time lines
- Reading, interpreting, applying and explaining fueling system rules, regulations, policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
- PE License is required.
- 5 years design experience required, government and Department of Defense (DoD) experience preferred. Commercial fuels experience a plus.
- Must have valid driver's license and be able to secure US DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
- Some work is performed in the field and may include walking, standing, bending, climbing and other physical activities.
- Travel is required for site review and meeting with clients.
