Primary Responsibilities
Senior Transportation Planner
Primary Responsibility: 1. Pursue, Market and Win Freight Plans, Rail Plans, and other freight-related planning projects. Markets include, but not limited to State DOTs, MPO, Port Authorities. 2. Lead and develop freight and rail plans and studies.
Primary Area of Responsibility: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania
Secondary Areas: Maryland, DE, New England; Support work in remainder of U.S. and Canada

DO:
- Plan, develop and monitor certain aspects of large multidiscipline / multimodal transportation planning projects
- Meet and dialogue with clients
- Understand the competitive landscape with regard to other firms' strengths and weaknesses, and evaluating and proposing potential teaming partners.
- Lead project pursuits
- Lead preparation of proposals, presentations, and reports
- Exercise sound business decision-making and judgment
- Demonstrate willingness to participate in public and stakeholder meetings, public sector and working with consultants outside the firm in teaming arrangements
- Research freight topics to include, but not limited to transportation technology, supply chains, transportation impacts to the environment, safety, funding and financing, livability and equity, resiliency and sustainability, freight trends, truck parking, economic development, etc.
- Mentor and assist junior staff, coordinate with staff, and be flexible, versatile, and adaptable in work assignments.
- Create technical reports, documents, presentations, and other materials for stakeholders and clients to highlight key aspects of transportation planning, i.e. needs and issues, SWOT, analysis results, existing conditions and performance, trends and forecasts, recommendations and solutions, etc.

Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering or a related field;
* 10 plus years of relevant multimodal freight transportation planning experience
* Experience as a project manager
* Possess excellent analytical and communication skills
* Understanding of transportation planning principles
* Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel
* Solid business development skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to clients; and demonstrated presentation skills
* An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
- AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners
- Master's Degree
- P.E. (Certified Professional Engineer)
- Local candidates are preferred.

The expected compensation range for this position is $116,256 - $173,000 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
