What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Healing Arts Center?
I had this job posted a couple of weeks ago. If you applied then I do not have a way to reconnect with you. If you still have an interest, please re-apply (with a cover letter).
STOP! READ. THIS. FIRST.- Please DO NOT JUST CLICK APPLY without sending me a cover letter. I DO READ the cover letters that are sent through indeed. When an application comes through from Indeed without a cover letter, I immediately reject it. You writing or attaching a cover letter shows me that you can follow instructions well.
Here are some things you might want to consider when submitting your application to me:
1. Do not use TXT abbreviations for a job application! IDK why I would even have to put this out there, but I promise you, it isn't your best foot forward.
2. Your attention to detail and spelling matter.
3. Tell me why I would want to hire YOU! Sell yourself. Why would you be a good member of our team? Why would I want to interview you vs. the 100 other applicants for the job?
4. Please make sure your resume is updated with indeed. Again, I read them.
5. If we get to the interview process, please dress accordingly. It is a professional medical office. Do not show up in your sweatpants having not bathed. Look me in the eye when you are talking to me. Exude confidence.
6. If we get to the in-person interview process, DO NOT wear perfume. We are a fragrance-free clinic.
7. I'm looking for someone who actually wants to be with us for a while and not job hop.
Now, on to the job description:
Healing Arts Center has an immediate opening for a Doctors'/Clinic Assistant.
About us: We are a busy multi-specialty medical practice that has been serving the Branson Area for 23 years. We offer Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, Nurse Practitioner, IV Therapy, Weight Loss, Hearing Instruments, Lab Draws and much more. We treat the whole person in an attempt to find the source of their ailments and not just treat the symptom. Though we have both Western and Eastern styles of medicine being offered at our clinic, we will lean toward the Natural whenever possible.
About the job: As the name implies, you will be assisting our Doctors and Clinic staff. This position has direct face-to-face patient interaction with almost all incoming patients. We like to say that this position is a little bit like a Cruise Director. You are the one helping the flow of the office whether that is rooming patients, helping gather supplies for the Doctors, prepping rooms, getting people setup on various equipment/modalities, returning phone calls, as well as some clerical/computer work as well. There are some other cross-trained jobs you will need to have knowledge of, but the assistance to the doctors, client interaction, and clerical side of this are the primary responsibilities.
Hours, Pay and Benefits:
Hours: 8:45am-5:45pm (1 hour lunch between 12:15pm-1:15pm)
Days:Monday-Friday
Benefits: We offer medical coverage through our office services as well as any of the services inside the office (Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, Decompression, Vanity Weight Loss, Neurofeedback, and Adult General Medicine) at no cost to our employees or their immediate (Spouse, Children) family living in their home. We also offer all things that we sell in the office at our cost to our employees. Additional services like IV Therapy and Medical Weight Loss are given to the employee at actual cost of the supplies, etc.
Time off: We observe the following holidays that are paid to our employees when they fall on a work day (M-F).
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
We also have a PTO policy that goes into effect after 1 year employment.
About your personality: Now that I have told you about us and the job, let’s talk about you! Here are some personality traits that you have:
- agile/nimble (you have to be able to be on your feet all day moving around)
- multi-tasker (there are many ball in the air all at one time)
- kind
- personable
- organized
- not argumentative
- well spoken
- loyal
- discreet
- well kept (this means you wear deodorant, brush your teeth, bathe, etc.)
- takes initiative
- smart (I’m not saying “top of your class”, but I need a thinker)
- problem fixer (and not a problem maker)
- not a creator of chaos (you are able to leave your drama at home)
Skills that we need for you to have: Some of these can be trained, some you need to have already:
- computer skills (you need to know more than just how to turn on a computer.)
- typing (you need to be able to type and not just “hunt and peck”.)
- verbal communication skills (you need to be able to have a phone and face-to-face conversation with someone and be conversive and kind.)
- written communication skills (you need to be able to write in complete sentences with good grammar.)
- medical office experience (though not required, previous experience in a medical office is helpful for your learning curve.)
- sales experience (though this isn’t a “sales” position, the position is the entry-point into our office and the many services we provide here. Being able to make suggestions and “soft-sell” something would be helpful.)
