Non-competitive: one year of permanent service as a Data Analyst 1 OR bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, and three years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools. * Substitution: A master’s degree in the above fields may substitute for one year of the specialized experience. A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two years of the specialized experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Teams, SharePoint, PowerAutomate and Lists. Familiarity with healthcare and public health data.
The Data Analyst 2 will provide data analysis, management, quality control and support services for the NYS All-Payer Database including Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS) in the Informatics Unit under the Bureau of Informatics and Technologies in Center for Health Data Innovation. The Informatics Unit is responsible for data management, quality control and improvement, visualization, and standards for large scale, enterprise data solutions and applications that helps to guide policy and decision-making in healthcare and public health. The incumbent will provide and assist in the management of data for health research studies, data initiatives, and other health informatic projects from several large data systems overseen by the Center for Health Data Innovation including the All-Payer Database (APD); the Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS); the Provider Network Data System (PNDS); and the Health Data New York (HealthDataNY) platform.
