Public Candidates: Active list candidate on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list #26-570 with a score of 100 or higher, OR qualified 55 b/c candidate in possession of a bachelor's or higher degree."

Preferred Qualifications:"The preferred candidate will have progressively responsible professional work experience in the administrative support of an investigative office with excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. They will have a strong command of prioritization that supports efficient office operations and the ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.

Duties Description

"The Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) is an investigative office within the New York State Department of Health’s Division of Nutrition. This position will have responsibilities related to reviewing vendor applications for participation in the New York State Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

The HPA’ s responsibilities will include new vendor background checks; assisting with field investigations and preparations for hearings; reviewing WIC vendor application documents and contracts to ensure completeness with Vendor Management Agencies (VMA) regarding incomplete applications; verifying the validity of SNAP Authorization Numbers; ensuring the vendor applicant is in compliance with other State Agencies; performing credit checks; performing paraprofessional duties; and providing programmatic, technical, and investigative assistance to management, supervisory personnel and field staff. The HPA will also research other sources of information for investigative purposes and technical support in the form of internet searches."

"Full-time, permanent appointment. Transfer candidates, you may be asked for a Social Security Number to verify your transfer eligibility. Depending on candidate qualifications, the position may be filled at the Health Program Administrator Trainee 1 or 2 levels. Traineeships are non-statutory, resulting in Salary Grade 18 upon completion.
