What are the responsibilities and job description for the Trauma Nurse PL Coordinator RN - HRMC position at Health First?
POSITION SUMMARY\:
To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by coordinating and facilitating the operational functions of the Trauma Performance Improvement Patient Safety (PIPS) program. Collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Registrars to assure HRMC meets all trauma center requirements as a Level ll Trauma Center.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES\:
Quality/No Harm\:
- Ensures trauma patients receive optimal care as required in the standards and criteria of the American College of Surgeons, the Florida Department of Health Trauma Center Standards, and Holmes Regional Medical Center Policy and Procedures.
- Oversees the daily operations of the Trauma PIPS program.
- Develops, implements, and maintains performance improvement activities including outcome and cost analysis, benchmark data report preparation, trauma registry report preparation, and review of State, HRMC and ACS clinical indicators.
- Monitors compliance with trauma protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Performs concurrent and retrospective case reviews to identify variances in trauma care and opportunities to improve trauma care. Rounds daily with nursing staff on admitted trauma patients and concurrently documents issues/events in OUTCOMES.
- Manages the data collection, monitoring, and reporting of identified PI issues.
- Collaborates with trauma registrars in the development and validation of reports from the trauma registry that meet the needs of stakeholders, the State of Florida, and TQIP.
- Ensures actions plans are implemented and loop closure completed with appropriate monitoring and evaluation.
- Creates reports, tables, charts, and graphs as required for TQRB and the Trauma Quality Management Committee. Develops meeting agendas and prepares required documents.
- Presents Trauma PIPS data as required for hospital committees.
- Creates and maintains the Trauma PI dashboard reflecting key performance indicators.
- Collaborates with the TPM to assure the PIPS program is driven by the Trauma Registry.
- Develops, implements and maintains a process for reviewing and analyzing TQIP reports.
- Assists the TMD and the TPM in the creation of practice management guidelines.
- Participates in monthly TQIP conferences and quizzes.
Job Description
Stewardship\:
- Maintains current knowledge of state and national regulatory requirements related to trauma PIPS program and to maintain designation as a Level ll Trauma Center.
- Ensures integration of the Trauma PIPS program with the overall HRMC quality programs.
- Participates in regional, state, and national meetings as required to meet the needs of the role and the trauma program.
- Completes and submits quarterly report to FDOH to meet Trauma Center Standards.
- Collaborates with the TPM and Trauma Registrars to continually improve all Trauma Registry workflow processes utilizing the LEAN principles when appropriate.
- Participates as a representative from Trauma Administration in Health First Quality/Risk meetings and projects.

- Collaborates with the Trauma Registrars in the review of complex patient charts to ensure accurate capture of diagnosis, procedures, and complications.
- Participates in Trauma Registry data validation processes.
- Facilitates trauma related PIPS projects with the multidisciplinary team.
Qualification:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED\:
- RN with minimum 3 years experience in ED/ICU/Trauma/Critical Care at a designated Level 1 or Level ll Trauma Center
- Current Florida RN license
- BLS
- Demonstrated expertise with Excel, WORD, and PowerPoint.
- Develops and demonstrates expertise in trauma system design and trauma data use.
- Strong attention to detail with emphasis on organization, analytical, and problem-solving
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of team members.
- Excellent communication skills in oral, written, graphic, and electronic formats.
- Strong work ethic including ability to manage multiple demands, deadlines, and prioritize as needed to meet the needs of the trauma program.
- Work effectively as a team member and team leader.
- Develop and maintain current knowledge of Trauma Registry V5 OUTCOMES and report writing functions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\:
- BSN
- Current TNCC or ATCN certification preferred
- Experience and knowledge of trauma systems management, and designation
- Trauma registry experience
- Experience with data management systems
