What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paralegal position at Health Plan One?

The Paralegal will assist and support Chief Legal Officer (“CLO”) with assistance any of the following areas:
1) Vendor contracts and/or procurement, risk management, audit (current area of focus)
2) Revenue generating contract review and analysis;
3) HR and Employment Law issues;
4) TCPA/TSR issues;
5) Department efficiency and organization;
6) Research and analysis of statutes, recorded judicial decisions, and legal codes;
7) Preparation of legal documents such as contracts and legal correspondence;
8) Maintaining and updating files and records; and
9) Administrative duties, including but not limited to scheduling for the CLO.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage vendor contracts and risk systems
- Perform contract audits
- Support contract system
- Drafting and revising legal documents and correspondence, maintaining and updating files and records as well as creating and generating reports regarding the legal documents
- Support CLO with ongoing internal investigations
- Assist in conducting and facilitating privacy and other internal audits to ensure our business units are compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Garnishment examination and review process
- Basic legal and compliance research, as needed
- Assist with HR/employment issues or violations, as needed
- Perform administrative duties for the CLO, as needed
- Assist with general tactical matters in a growing organization with an expanding risk management department
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0-5 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant
- Highly organized, with the ability to keep others similarly organized
- Ability to multitask, effectively prioritize and meet deadlines for multiple simultaneous projects
- Demonstrate an ability to interpret and understand legal documents
- Ability to conduct legal research
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal
- Successful experience working directly with executive level employees
- Displaya high-level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Show flexibility and ability to work independently and in a team/collaborative environment
- Exhibit exceptional attention to detail
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in contract drafting/examination
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, typically in a cubicle environment (constant noise, fluorescent overhead lighting)
