MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Student must be enrolled as a graduate student in the MPH or MS Epidemiology program at SUNY Albany’s School of Public Health



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Background in Biology and/or genetics and pursuing Maternal and Child Health Graduate Certificate. Experience in patient care/ medical field


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The student will create an educational document regarding the specimen usage and retention policies of the NBS program, as well as perform a literature review on specimen usage and retention policies in the United States and the ethics surrounding these policies.   The student will also assist with daily programmatic functions such as sorting and preparing outgoing mail correspondence, sorting and scanning incoming documentation, and contacting hospitals and providers regarding unsuitable specimens.  The student will work in collaboration with public health program staff and will have the opportunity to participate in management level staff meetings.



DETAILS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Summer internship to begin ~5/22 and end ~8/11. Student expected to work ~37.5 hours/week.

Hourly intern, grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Qualified candidates must be either an MPH or an MS Epidemiology student at SUNY Albany’s School of Public Health; AND must have completed at least 24 credits of coursework toward their degree including at least four of the core courses; AND must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better AND are unable to participate in an internship if on academic probation.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.
