Responsibilities
- Monitor psychiatric medications for effectiveness, response of resident, usage of prns, and side effects
- Inform residents of potential side effects of psychiatric medications
- Recommend (not prescribe or order) the initiation of any psychiatric medication deemed appropriate
- Complete the AIMS testing every three to six months on residents receiving an antipsychotic medication
- Monitor the tapering of psychiatric medications according to federal regulations
- Recommend nursing and behavioral interventions to nursing staff
- Develop behavior plans as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited college/university
- State professional license
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and organizational skills
