Description
As a Biller I, you will perform accurate medical billing, payment posting, and account follow-up in accordance with established HealthLinc policies and procedures. This position will work closely with the billing staff and will report to the Billing Manager.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews and posts pending charges to patient accounts, ensuring correct amount and payer charged as needed.
- Reviews rejected charges and takes necessary steps for correction; re-bills when required.
- Contacts third party payers regarding outstanding charges.
- Assures correct ICD-10-CM diagnosis code and CPT and CDT code on all diagnoses and services provided as needed.
- Contacts providers to update them with correct coding information.
- Handles all patient and insurance plan billing inquiries.
- Receives patient and third-party payer payments/receipts and posts to proper patient accounts.
- Prints and reviews credit reports for unapplied credits to be applied to accounts and refund status.
- Posts bad debt as directed by CFO.
- Completes daily journal reconciliations to ensure logged payments and the payments recorded in Intergy match.
- All HealthLinc staff is committed to engage in quality improvement initiatives that align with and support Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience
- At least two years experience in coding and billing (not required but highly preferred)
- Proven experience with ICD-10, CDT and CPT codes
- Proven experience with interpreting Explanation of Benefits
- Proven experience with medical terminology
