Job Description:
HealthPartners is currently hiring for Underwriting. They would evaluate the risk on group cases through the use of medical or experience underwriting. ACCOUNTABILITIES :
For employees working in the Individual Underwriting role:
- Review applications for completeness and determine need for additional information.
- Make final determination to accept standard rate or decline coverage within the framework of predetermined underwriting standards.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from applicants and other HealthPartners departments.
- Work with Claims, Member Services and clinic personnel to assure that applicant misrepresentation is identified and handled properly.
- Interact with healthcare providers at HealthPartners and elsewhere in determining acceptability of applicants.
- Participate in streamlining individual and underwriting process.
For employees working in the Small Group Underwriting role:
- Medically underwrite new sales groups.
- Underwrite late entrance applications.
- Assist in the renewal process.
- Act as a resource for internal departments regarding MN Care Legislation and for inquiries regarding rate development and final decisions.
- Participate in streamlining small group underwriting process.
- Keep abreast of changes in laws/legislation/competitors.
For employees working in the Large Group Underwriting role:
- Calculate F/I renewal and prospect rates.
- Prepare basic S/I renewal and prospect rates.
- Prepare benefit alternatives.
- Present risk issues to Management.
- Understand Employer Reports.
- Participate in the streamlining of the underwriting process.
- Keep abreast of changes in laws/legislation/competitors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two years medical or group underwriting experience.
- Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office products or comparable applications.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- High degree of math aptitude.
- Ability to work independently.
