Description
Job Title: Radiological Technician
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Job Summary: We are seeking a certified and experienced Radiological Technician to join our team at the Occupational Medicine Clinic for the Newport News Nuclear (N3B) BWXT Los Alamos project. This position is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures and maintaining radiologic equipment, ensuring efficient clinic operations and high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Radiological Technician Duties:
- Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, following safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
- Maintain radiologic equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Prepare patients for radiologic exams, explaining procedures and positioning patients to achieve the best diagnostic outcomes.
- Process and evaluate images to ensure their quality for diagnostic purposes.
- Implement radiation protection and safety standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Additional Duties (Occupational Health Related):
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, including taking patient histories and recording vital signs.
- Prepare patients for exams or treatments and assist with procedures as needed.
- Manage patient records and perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and handling patient communications.
- Provide patients with instructions on medications and general health education under the supervision of healthcare providers.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
- Valid certification as a Radiologic Technician (ARRT).
- Previous experience in a radiology and medical office setting, with a strong understanding of radiologic procedures and patient care.
- Knowledge of radiation safety measures and radiologic equipment maintenance.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
