What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Assistant position at Healthy Heart Clinics of America?

The Medical Office Assistant provides front desk support, greets patients, collects payments, answers phone calls and answers patient questions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide superior customer service when welcoming patients and answer phones in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer patient questions and provide assistance and directions when necessary.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments and notify patients when schedule changes.
  • Organize schedules for Nurse Practitioners and Ultrasound Technologists.
  • Obtain medical records prior to appointments.
  • Schedule patient labs, outpatient testing, and referrals.
  • Create new patient accounts in EHR and maintain them by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information, and updating patient charts as needed.
  • Obtain approval from insurance companies for testing and diagnostic procedures ordered by provider.
  • Collect and post patient payments.
  • Keep the reception area clean and organized as well as maintaining forms and office supplies required for front desk operation.

Qualifications & Education:

  • Computer skills required; Knowledge of EMR/ EHR
  • Prominent level of empathy and compassion
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Promote supportive and positive environment for both staff and patients
  • Ability to handle fast-paced environment and prioritize task based on importance
  • Comply with HIPPA regulations
  • Minimum of one year experience in a clinical setting
  • High School Diploma and or GED required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
