Job Overview:

At Heart to Heart Speech Therapy, you will play a crucial role in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating communication disorders and speech impairments in children. Working within a pediatric clinic setting, you will collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients, ranging from infants to adolescents. Your expertise and compassionate approach will play a pivotal role in helping children overcome communication challenges and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate speech and language in pediatric patients.

  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each child's developmental stage, needs, and goals.

  • Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address speech and language delays, articulation disorders, language disorders, fluency disorders, and other communication difficulties in children.

  • Provide family-centered care by involving parents and caregivers in therapy sessions, offer guidance on communication strategies, and educate them about their child's condition and progress.

  • Collaborate closely with pediatricians, pediatric specialists, educators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimize outcomes.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of assessments, treatment sessions, progress reports, and communication with other healthcare team members.

  • Stay updated with the latest research, best practices, and guidelines in pediatric speech-language pathology through continuing education and professional development.

  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards in clinical practice, including maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.

  • Valid Oregon license in Speech-Language Pathology.

  • ASHA CCCs required or CF pursuing ASHA CCCs.

  • Clinical experience in evaluating and treating pediatric patients with a variety of speech and language disorders.

  • Specialized knowledge and training in pediatric speech-language pathology, including familiarity with developmental milestones and pediatric assessment tools.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and establish collaborative relationships with parents and caregivers.

  • Empathy, patience, and creativity in working with children with diverse communication needs and abilities.

  • Ability to adapt therapy techniques and materials to meet the individual needs and interests of pediatric patients.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Proficient computer skills for documentation and use of therapy software.

  • Commitment to professional growth and ongoing learning in the field of pediatric speech-language pathology.

  • Ability to be flexible with changes.

  • Excellent time management skills and strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a pediatric clinic or pediatric rehabilitation setting.

  • Experience or interest in areas including early intervention, autism spectrum disorders, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

  • Experience collaborating with schools, early intervention programs, and community resources to support pediatric patients' communication needs.

Working Conditions:

  • This position operates within a pediatric clinic with occasional teletherapy appointments.

  • Some flexibility with work schedule (e.g. 4 or 5 day work week), flexible start/end times.

  • Supportive staff.

  • Physical requirements may include kneeling, bending, standing, and engaging in activities to interact with pediatric patients at their developmental level.
