Job Summary :

Responsible for a variety of maintenance, repairs, continuous improvement and new installation functions on facility grounds, equipment and infrastructure with limited direction and guidance.

Safely, professionally and efficiently complete facility maintenance, preventive maintenance and scheduled projects.

Job Duties :

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following :

• Safely operate forklift and aerial lift
• Responsible for operating lawn mowers, snow blowers, etc. to ensure grounds maintenance
• Perform multiple tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, roofing, concrete masonry repairs and remodeling, including painting
• Responsible for maintaining all plant lighting, both internal and external, and preparing WO’s for issues above qualification level
• Responsible for replacing plant air filters as scheduled by Maintenance
• Responsible for daily and monthly PM checks on the facilities fire extinguishers and emergency exits signs and fire sprinkler system
• Responsible for plant soft water conditioners and assist with annual inspections of facilities backflow prevention devices
• Practice good housekeeping and follow Good Manufacturing Practices at all times
• Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Required Competencies & Knowledge :

Knowledge of :

• Excel and Word
• 5S Continuous Improvement Practices
• Automatic sprinkling systems

Ability to :

• Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law
• Comply with Company rules, regulations and policies
• Be detail-oriented, self-directed, have strong self-confidence and excellent oral plus written communication skills
• Work overtime on short notice, including call-ins for emergencies
• Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
• Add, subtract, multiply and divide in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Distinguish colors and read / interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form

Physical Requirements :

• Repetitive reaching with hands / arms, overhead, under and across; crawl under equipment
• Repetitive bending, stooping and twisting; crawl under equipment
• Stand, walk and climb stairs on a frequent basis
• Must be able to lift / move 100 pounds, walk up to 400 yards to work areas and push / pull items up to 260 pounds with assistance
• Work in light to moderate noise levels plus variable temperatures and weather conditions

Minimum Qualifications :

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred
• Pass a mechanical aptitude plus forklift driving test
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently
