The Jacksonville Corps is seeking candidates for a part-time Cook, working 25 hours/week.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 2:00pm
Rate of Pay: $14.00/hour

As a Cook for the Salvation Army you can expect to:
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with food handling certification standards.
- Comply with state and/or local health regulations in the operation of the kitchen.
- Ensure dining room is cleaned and sanitized before and after meals.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Maintain labeled and organized food storage (pantry, refrigerator, freezers).
- Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure food safety.
- Plan menus that are varied and appetizing, utilizing food donations and locally available ingredients.

What Are We Looking For?
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have or obtain food handling certification within 90 days of hire.
Experience: One year cooking experience preferred. Working knowledge of health codes in the Jacksonville, IL area is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge and competency in using industrial and typical kitchen equipment and supplies (i.e., dishwashing machine, garbage disposal, 3-compartment sink, cleaning tools and supplies, etc.)
- Understanding of safe food handling practices in an industrial kitchen environment
- Service-oriented, actively looking for ways to help people
- Organizational skills and close attention to detail
- Team player, self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to frequently lift 25lbs and occasionally lift up to 50lbs
