This professional oversees the development agenda of the service areas assigned to the Corps. Serve as a representative to advisory organizations, including oversight of advisory organization events, and providing consultation to Corps relative to advisory organizations. Responsibilities include various development activities critical to the acquisition of resources needed to advance the organizational mission. The Salvation Army, Great Lakes Division
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Administration
- Manage, direct and coordinate the development function serving the Corps
- Oversee foundation relations
- Engage in donor development, manage capital campaigns, participate in grant-writing, special events, media opportunities, etc.
- Advance the capability of the development team and systems (donor relations, mail appeal, media campaigns, special events, planned giving/legacies, etc.
- Fundraising Activities
- Manage all aspects of the mail appeal, operating, capital and endowment fundraising campaigns, and coordinate this activity with the Divisional Development Department
- Work closely with the corps officers/leadership team to plan fundraising event’s strategies, develop agendas and recommendations for future initiatives
- Work closely with leadership team on seasonal fundraising
- Public Relations
- Coordinate media and public relations outreach (print, radio, television, service clubs, community organizations etc.)
- Manage special events
- Identify public relations opportunities
- Advisory Organizations
- Serve as a liaison to the Advisory Board as requested
- Additional Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field of public relations and fund raising
- A background in the principles of fundraising, and marketing preferred
- A minimum 1 year of supervision required.
