Summary
The Site Network Administrator Lead will take point on IT needs for the site, acting as liaison between mine operations, ICS (Industrial Control Systems) teams, and Corporate to meet the IT needs of the site. This position is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. Scope includes networks, process computers, end-user computers, switches, access points, fiber-optic/Ethernet/ISP, and connectivity with SCADA, instrumentation, and controls. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, vendors, and partners to fully utilize Hecla IT systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide remote technical support for end-users that includes troubleshooting and repair of hardware and software related issues, including peripheral devices, connectivity to local and wide area networks
- Set-up new computer equipment based on a standard configuration
- Log all requests, incidents, and problems received via phone and email into the ticketing system
- Configure and troubleshoot hardware and software problems
- Identify, categorize, and resolve application issues
- Manage incidents and communication received through the service desk ticketing system
- Engage end users to collect functional specifications for infrastructure improvement requests
- Work with corporate infrastructure team to address end user functional requirements
- Assist infrastructure team to troubleshoot network Layer 3 connectivity issues
- Perform diagnostics with user to collect information regarding problem for RCA
- Cooperate with corporate infrastructure team to diagnose and improve shared network resource performance.
- Analyze and correct problems using documented procedures, available tools, and personal knowledge and skill
- Evaluate software and hardware to determine whether product will be an effective tool for employees. Write software and hardware evaluations and recommendations for management review
- Perform hardware imaging
- Contact software and hardware vendors to research problem and determine recommended solutions
- Participate in creation and maintenance of IT standards and procedures.
- Analyze and evaluate incident reports and makes recommendations to reduce the service desk incident rate
- Assist with developing and improving IT efficiency and customer service rating
- Maintain inventory records for all hardware/software
- Must be willing to comply with all company policies and procedures, especially with regard to Safety, Human Resources, and Environmental.
- Must follow and understand MSHA rules and regulations, SOP and work area instructions, participates in safety activities.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, outside contractors and vendors, and employees in a courteous and professional manner
- System patching: Patch servers and workstations with software updates
- Install, maintain, provide support, and troubleshoot fiber optic interfaces, cameras and phones
- Maintain Underground IT systems
- Plan and prioritize work activities, using time efficiently and effectively, and develop realistic action plans
- Work with the Site Controller and Corporate IT to prepare and monitor the site’s IT budget, ensuring costs are within established budgets
- Required to work underground and in the mill as needed to provide IT support
- Participate in Risk Assessment activities as required
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- 5 years of relevant IT experience
- Office 365 setup and support, active directory, basic networking, Windows, and network cabling experience
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Excellent verbal, written and trouble-shooting skills needed
- Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking
- Ability to be positive and proactive in assisting end-users
- A strong service and work ethic, with a focus on delivering quality service support
- Bachelor’s Degree in a computer or business-related field, or an IT certification preferred
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English.
Self-Motivated
Initiative is necessary to keep abreast of rapidly-changing technical developments and opportunities, and communication of such to the Site Controller and colleagues.
Administrative Skills
Required to establish and manage project needs and time commitments. This individual must be able to coordinate availability with colleagues and vendors to assure systems administrative coverage to meet the operation’s 24/7 schedule.
Other Qualifications:
- Prior experience in providing IT services in industrial settings is preferred.
- Must be able to work independently, as well as a member of a team.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have flexibility with scheduling and be willing to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Ability to organize and write procedures in a logical/methodical manner.
- Good time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Upon hire must complete MSHA 24-hour training or provide 5000-23 documentation of completed training.
- Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
