What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy civil position at Heights Tower Service, Inc.?
Overview
As a heavy civil installer, you will work alongside other field technicians to complete site prep and perform civil construction, steel fabrication, and tower erecting activities for the fastest-growing telecommunications company in the Midwest.
Every day, you will be responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the erection of telecommunications structures.
You will also operate heavy equipment, including graders, tractors, backhoes, front end loaders, forklifts, and front skid steer loaders.
What We Need from You
To thrive in this role, you must be able to travel Monday through Friday, with some weekend work required. Frequent overtime and overnight travel should be expected.
- Cleaning and preparing construction sites by removing debris and possible hazards
- Loading and unloading building materials to be used in construction
- Digging trenches, backfilling holes, and compacting earth to prepare for construction
- Following construction plans and instructions from supervisors or more experienced workers
- Operating backhoes, excavators, graders, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment
- Cleaning, maintaining, and performing basic repairs to equipment; reporting malfunctioning equipment to supervisors
- Coordinating machine actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals
- Moving construction materials, earth, and other heavy materials at job sites; compacting earth and other fill materials for roadbeds and foundation preparation.
- Safely excavating for and around underground utilities and setting new utilities as needed
Additionally, you should have :
- CDL or willing to obtain a CDL license
- Concrete experience / knowledge a plus
- Ability to read construction drawings and grading plans
- Ability to drive a truck and trailer.
- Ability to tie down equipment and materials.
- Ability to install conduit.
- Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment processes, including a background check, drug screen, and DOT inspection.
