Responsibilities:
Warehouse selectors are responsible for the accurate selection of product in an efficient and safe manner to fill orders and meet delivery schedules. Day to day responsibilities include:
- Accurately select product by matching slot numbers and product descriptions using a voice-activated warehouse management system. Reading and identifying merchandise and stock location tickets.
- Ability to work within various warehouse environments of fluctuating temperatures which could include dry, cooler, and freezer areas.
- Meet and maintain established productivity standards.
- Operate an electric pallet jack or forklift to transport product.
- Stack product on pallets in accordance with proper selecting procedures for damage-free shipping.
- Shrink wrap and stage completed pallets of selected product in proper shipping lanes for loading.
- Communicate with leadership team regarding safety, equipment, damaged goods, and any issues that may arise.
- Maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment.
- Reaching/bending/twisting and stooping/kneeling/crouching to place merchandise in storage areas and on pallets.
- Reaching/grasping/manipulating all equipment in a safe and proper manner (e.g., towmotor, dolly and pallets).
- Reaching/grasping/manipulating all merchandise (e.g., boxes).
- Writing on forms and store orders.
- Reading and writing shipping manifests and purchase orders.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment for all customers and all associates.
Qualifications
A successful candidate should have the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Able to meet or exceed minimum efficiency levels established through production standard.
- Must be production driven with the ability to work at a constant pace, in a fast-paced environment.
- Lift and carry cases of up to 50 pounds from pick slots.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations.
- Flexibility in scheduling and availability to work the times, shifts, days, and overtime as necessary to meet the Company’s needs.
- Tolerating temperatures down to 35 degrees F for a period up to 8 work hours (Freezer Order Picker only).
- Tolerating temperatures down to 10 degrees F below zero for a period up to 8 work hours (Produce Order Picker only).
- Being able to stay in the confined area of the operator compartment (approximately 4 feet by 6 feet) of the hi-lift for an 8-hour work shift.
- Lifting/lowering and pushing/pulling merchandise weighing up to 70 pounds from floor level to approximately 6 feet high over 1000 times a day.
- Being able to identify overhead stock of up to 20 feet.
- Giving proper and friendly service to all associates and outside representatives.
- Being able to effectively communicate with all customers and associates.
- Standing/walking for up to 8½ hours, with ½ hour lunch and one 15-minute breaks as rest periods (maximum 3 hours at a time on feet).
