What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer position at Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC?
The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating the site development and design of new locations and existing locations. This person oversees items needed on a daily basis while the project is in progress and functions as a liaison between the field and corporate office.
The employee's primary duty must be the performance of office or non-manual work directly related to the site development or general business operations of Helena or Helena's customers. This also includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.
What your day may look like
- Prepares site plans, building designs and written specifications for construction.
- Coordinates repairs of fixed assets such as warehouses, offices, tank farms, storage tanks and fertilizer facilities.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge on current safety and environmental codes, building codes and fire regulations.
- Communicates with building and fire officials, state environmental departments and local municipal governing agencies.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by the engineering manager.
- Reliable and regular attendance is expected.
Education and experience needed for this position
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology or related field experience is required.
- One to three years of related work experience is required.
Other skills that will help you succeed
- Possesses or has the ability to obtain a Hazardous Response Certification.
- Knowledge of agri-chemicals and their associated hazards.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of CAD software and Microsoft office.
- Wears and works in fitted protective equipment.
- Ability to travel up to 40-50% the time is required.

The work environment for this position may require the employee to work in an outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
