History Teacher
Job Purpose:
The History Teacher is responsible for providing academic instruction to students in a highly structured alternative school. He / She will help students learn subject matter and skills that will broaden their learning experiences and contribute to their development. In a small classroom setting, the History Teacher will address the academic and emotional/behavioral needs of the students as set forth in their Individual Education Plan (IEP). Responsibilities include developing interesting lesson plans and curricula; collaborating with other teachers; completing student assessments; and addressing any performance issues.
Qualifications:
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in history or a related discipline.
- A teaching license, or ability/willingness to become licensed.
- A completed teaching apprenticeship or experience preferred.
- Practical experience with MS Office, Google Classroom, and other software.
- Dedication, patience, and the ability to remain calm in tense situations.
- The ability to answer sensitive questions and create an environment where everyone’s opinions are respected.
- A passion for History and a commitment to continuing education.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
