Payroll assistant

We have an immediate opening for a Payroll Timekeeping Assistant at our rapidly growing Hello Mazda store in Valencia, California!

We're looking for an individual who feels passionate about payroll and ensuring that employees exercise their rights to rest and meal periods per CA guidelines while aiding to limit liability on the organization by enforcing company policies pertaining to breaks, overtime and meal penalties.

We welcome applicants with prior automotive payroll experience, but we would also love to talk to you if you're currently involved in payroll, with an emphasis in CA payroll guidelines in other industries.

Compensation Elements

Guaranteed base hourly pay above industry standard.

This role pays a range of $22.00 - 25.00 per hour!

• We pay 75% of employee only base medical coverage (value of over $3000 / year)

What We're Looking For :

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this individual will be accountable for monitoring and overseeing elements of the payroll and timekeeping process and policies.

This individual will partner with department managers, supervisors, and General Managers to ensure that employees are exercising their rights to rest and meal periods in accordance with CA statutory guidelines and are approved in time for payroll processing while enforcing company policies on overtime and meal penalties.

This individual is / has :

• 3 years minimum payroll experience
• Assertive - you will be holding managers and employees accountable for following policies and payroll timekeeping procedures
• Knowledgeable of CA statutory rest and meal period guidelines
• Tech and report savvy
• Detail orientated
• Experienced in ADP WFN payroll processing (preferred)

What you will be doing :

• Daily oversight of time card entries, missed punches and corrections, ensuring time cards are accurate and maintained daily
• Enforce policies regarding Overtime and Overtime approvals
• Monitor Meal Penalty violations and gather meal penalty violation acknowledgments on a daily basis
• Prepare write ups for frequent violations of OT and meal policies
• Review and verification of ADP pay data (will not have edit access to ADP data)
• Monitor and manage submission of all time cards for payroll processing
• Month-end electronic filing of payroll back-up
• Limited role and scope of duty for support of payroll processing
• Maintain and generate all Meal Penalty and OT reports for the Payroll Department and executive team
