The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of activities that support volunteer involvement, donor engagement and fundraising goals of HoG. Under the direction of the Director of Community Engagement, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing new corporate stakeholders/donors. The position assists with the organization and logistics for special fundraising events throughout the year. This position coordinates and manages the annual Donor Appreciation event for the organization.
Hemophilia of Georgia operates an annual summer camp program for children and teens with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders. Camp is typically held in July (which may include the Fourth of July) and runs Saturday-Friday, and the date changes each year. Camp is an agency-wide, strategic priority; therefore, all exempt employees must participate. Assignments may include duties at camp, helping campers get to and from camp, and may involve overnight travel. The Director of Camp & Client Events will provide advance notice to exempt employees of where support is needed. PTO requests during the week of camp are generally not approved; however, PTO requests for extenuating circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Chief Community Engagement Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree in nonprofit or business management, marketing, communication, human services, public relations, or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in special event fundraising with emphasis on donor prospecting and engagement.
- Experience in prospecting donors to include making donor calls, scheduling meetings with donors, making formal presentations to potential donors and successfully securing donor support.
- Possess an understanding of the local corporate and foundation giving environment.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Provide your own vehicle. Drive and be willing to travel as required.
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications and ability to learn and manage department-specific software.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Position requires critical thinking and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Experience with reconciling established budgets and assist with budget tracking and record keeping as needed.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle volunteers and donors. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work productively, effectively, and efficiently with customers, clients, co-workers, volunteers, and management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and implement the annual HoG Donor Appreciation event. Responsible for all Donor Appreciation event logistics, planning/coordination, event registration, menus, and all pertinent other event details.
- Plan and implement HoG fundraising events throughout the state, including recruitment of event participants, corporate sponsors and facilitating event(s) on event day.
- Coordinate fundraising event logistics including creating event invitations and corporate sponsor materials, preparing necessary mailings, conducting committee meetings, preparing history of previous events, attending HoG events, assisting event volunteers, processing follow-up correspondence, and preparing volunteer committee materials.
- Facilitate all contract negotiations and apply for permits for fundraising events. Work closely with the Director of Communications to develop and implement materials to promote and publicize fundraising events.
- Identify and develop new corporate sponsors for HoG.
- Represent HoG at community events and special events.
- Develop a report after each fundraising event for the Chief Community Engagement Officer.
- Plan and implement annual “Hops for Hemophilia” brewery event.
- Responsible for all logistics, obtaining corporate sponsors, sponsor recognition, solicitation of door prizes, menus and other event details.
- Plan and implement annual “Trot to Clot” 5K walk & run event.
- Responsible for all logistics, obtaining corporate sponsors, sponsor recognition, solicitation of door prizes, menus and other event details.
- Plan and implement annual Tee Off for Bleeding Disorders Golf Tournament. Responsible for all logistics, obtaining corporate sponsors, sponsor recognition, solicitation of door prizes, menus and other event details.
- Plan and implement annual Score for a Cure (Top Golf) event. Responsible for all logistics, obtaining corporate sponsors, sponsor recognition, solicitation of door prizes, menus and other event details.
- Work with the Director of Communications to develop content for the Development section of website.
- Work closely with Client Engagement & Volunteer Coordinator to recruit volunteers and plan volunteer utilization at fundraising events.
- Participate in donor relationship building and cultivation for support of various fundraising events and activities. Responsible for planning/implementation of the HoG annual donor appreciation event.
- Identify new fundraising event opportunities to maintain or exceed the Development department’s event fundraising goals.
- Work with the other members of the Community Engagement Team to plan and implement annual volunteer and donor recognition events. Support additional donor and volunteer retention efforts.
- Participate in local chamber events and be an active member of such chambers.
- Assist with and attend Community Engagement events as assigned/requested.
