Area of Accountability:
· Maintains a continuous flow of product, resolves issues quickly and according to policy.
· Leads group in maintaining and improving quality.
· Leads group in 5S “a place for everything and everything in its place”.
· Leads/participates in continuous improvement efforts. Provides regular, constructive feedback on Elizabethtown activities to associates, supervisors and management.
· Coordinate and control all documentation on the product coming in and out of the area (ex: scrap, billet over/under weights, disposition).
· Ensure all forgings and billets are labeled correctly with heat code.
· Continually reviews line for safety concerns. Intervenes when associates are performing a task unsafely.
Major Responsibilities:
· Operate all forge area production equipment in a safe / effective manner
· Lead forge associates with daily production needs
· Oversee training of operations personnel, assure that work instructions are accurate and understood.
· Address equipment issues with maintenance and preventative maintenance scheduling as needed.
·
· Ownership / working knowledge of forge press and forge tooling systems.
o 2000-ton hydraulic press with robotic material handling
§ Understanding of HMI controls for forge press operation
§ Review and understand FPS with ability to adjust machine to given requirement
o Bemers system operation
§ Adjustment and maintenance of die lube concentration
§ Identify and resolve die lube spray issues
o Induction heater
§ Robotic billet feed system for heater
§ Adjust maintain workpiece temperature.
o Billet saws
§ Operation and billet weight adjustment
o Overhead cranes
§ Load saw tables and unload steel trucks
§ General operation and daily checks
o JLG lift operation
o Forklift operation
o Press die-change cart
o 1000 ton die assembly press
o Operation of power arm for tooling replacement in the press
· Recovery / reset of various press faults and conditions
o Troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on press
· Forge tooling set-up and maintenance
o Assembly and disassembly of forge tooling die sets
o Removal of sub-assemblies from die shoes (top and bottom)
o Replacement of individual tooling components (punches, dies, spacers, holders, etc.)
o Die shoe “flipper”
o Stacking of die sets on tool change stand near forge press
o Press apart and rebuild compression die assemblies (with 1000-ton assembly press)
o Change punches / dies / stripper sleeves in tool space of forge press as required
· Verification of product quality
o Dimensional measurement of parts
o Visible defect inspection
o Corrective actions for various forging defects (i.e., runout, die wear, part length)
· Operation of overhead crane for unloading steel bundles from incoming trailers and loading bundles to saw tables
· Assist with Scheduling of PM and TPM
· Robot fault recovery and pick-point adjustments
· Understands what production requirements are and communicates them to associates, moving people as required to maintain balance within the press.
- Aids the supervisor in evaluating current and new associates.
· Maintains daily production and downtime records (Worksite).
- Fills in for Supervisor as required.

· Preferred Qualifications: 2 years’ experience in a forge area
o Plus signed off on all forge equipment
· 2/4 Year degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology or similar degree
o Plus signed off on all forge equipment
· Ability to work on a team to solve problems and make improvements
· Good mechanical aptitude
· Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, electronic, fluid power, mechanical and plumbing systems.
· Ability to read meters, prints, sketches, verbal instructions, and mathematical data to identify tooling, gauging, and fixturing.
· Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and must be able to work with minimal supervision.
· Must have experience using precision measuring tools/equipment, like micrometers and calipers
· Self-motivated
· Desire to learn all aspects of the forging process and equipment
· Ability to lift 75 lbs.
