Description
Hennepin County's Resident and Real Estate Services department is seeking to fill several Real Estate and Tax Specialist I positions. Employees of Resident and Real Estate Services play an integral part in making Hennepin County a great organization; one that provides taxpayers and residents with easily accessible and time saving services they need while leading the way in e-government solutions.
Location and hours:
These positions are hybrid and will be performed at the Hennepin County Government Center, 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487 and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. While these positions are designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

In these positions, you will:
- Review legal documents for recording based on application of recording standards, state statutes, and office policies.
- Process and reconcile payments accepted for fees and taxes associated with document recording and customer service.
- Index and verify data from recordings allowing for searching and retrieval of records from digital library.
- Assist public and real property professionals in basic research and acquisition of requested records through in person, phone, or email interactions.
- Perform a variety of duties related to the management and flow of materials through the office, including indexing, verifying, scanning, quality control, inventory control and the receipt and return of recorded documents.
Need to have:

One of the following:
- One or more years of clerical experience processing and maintaining fiscal and/or legal documents.
- Nine months or more of general clerical experience and completion of the Office Specialist Pathway Training program.
- Note: Business or other related education may be substituted for experience on a semester basis.
Nice to have:
- One or more years of experience recording and managing legal documents in a recorder/registrar of titles office setting.

Experience:
- Proofreading and/or verifying real estate documents, real estate language, and/or legal language.
- Calculating fees and balancing daily revenue.
- Using Microsoft Office on a daily basis.
- Assisting in basic research and acquisition of requested records through in person, phone, or email interactions.
- Independently processing financial or real estate documents with little direction.
- Critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
- Basic computer skills and ability to troubleshoot minor PC and hardware issues.

Resident and Real Estate Services covers the foundational responsibilities of government: land surveying, land recording, property tax collection and distribution, voter registration and elections. Our eight service centers locations provide access to licenses, vital records, and other documents that help the constituency of Hennepin County.
