Henning Companies is a growing Design-Build, General Contractor, and Construction Manager based out of Johnston, IA working throughout the U.S. to serve the ag, manufacturing, commercial, and industrial construction markets. The Superintendent oversees the overall safety, budget, schedule, and quality of construction projects from project start through project completion onsite. This position is a crucial contributor to building Henning's book of business. The Superintendent is an onsite team leader working with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Director of Field Operations to ensure effective management and coordination of assigned jobsite resources toward the common goal of quality and timely delivery of services which exceed customer's expectations.
Safety
- Lead all required safety meetings and complete appropriate documentation to be in compliance with Henning's Safety Program
- Monitor and correct safety issues during regular jobsite walks; holding onsite resources accountable to Henning's Safety Program
- Complete all OSHA and other trainings as directed by Safety Director
Building Relationships
- Maintain good working relationships with the community, local, state, and federal Authority Having Jurisdiction. Represent the customer and company in the most professional manner
- Be an example of Henning's Core Values, coaching those around you to do the same
Focus on End Goals
- Lead, manage and complete all projects to ensure the project is completed safely, on-schedule, on-budget, and with quality that conforms to project plans and specifications, while exceeding customer and company expectations; own the site build process
- Work with project teams to identify potential issues and be actively involved in problem solving ahead of the issue
- Conduct pre-installment meetings to discuss quality of work expected, manufacturer installation guidelines, drawing details, and mock-up
- Provide onsite supervision of all construction personnel while maintaining respectful and professional communication to ensure project success and conformance to contract documents and specifications
- Document historical information to include daily reports, photos, punch lists, inspections, RFIs, and safety walks in Procore or other utilized technology
- Maintain red-lines and as-built drawings, sending to Project Manager at job close-out for permanent file
- Coordinate, and be present for, all required state, city, county inspections as well as following established third-party testing schedules
- Laydown planning and protection of materials until turnover
- Provide basic support for all departments as needed, along with other assigned duties

- Utilize the appropriate technology to provide best in class project solutions. This includes estimating (Sage®) and project management software (Procore®) and web-based collaboration tools.
- Own quality control as work is completed
- Drive schedules to meet or exceed project milestones
Qualifications
- 10 years as construction superintendent is preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate
- Exceptional communication and effective listening skills
- Ability to read people and adapt your approach to achieve results
- Effective contributor and team player, which can plan and organize a team with the capacity to motivate and boost morale
- Frequent extended stay travel required
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently in a field environment.
- Constant walking and standing
- Frequently expected to perform duties in all ranges of weather conditions
- Occasional use of heavy construction equipment
- Occasional use of varying types of tools
