General Statement of Duties

Plans, manages and provides policy direction on difficult and advanced engineering work in the field and in the office for an assigned department; does related work as required.

Essential Duties

The Senior Drainage Design Engineer will be responsible for supervising and guiding a group of individuals to manage and design projects that resolve public/private drainage issues throughout the County. They will be responsible for implementing the County's drainage prioritization plan and refining processes to efficiently address a great number of different projects and tasks.
• Proficient in engineering principles, project management, and legal standards related to the County of Henrico.
• Expertise in stormwater management and erosion control for infrastructure projects and design.
• Skilled in creating, reviewing, and ensuring compliance of construction documents and designs. This includes the knowledge of and experience with Autodesk Civil3D standards and operations as well as drainage design software such as, but not limited, to FlowMaster, PondPack, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, etc.
• Ability to analyze data using various instruments and present findings effectively.
• Comfort using Technology to communicate and make processes more efficient. Knowledge of SharePoint, Excel, and other Microsoft products preferred.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage workloads, projects, and foster team morale.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral, including public speaking and maintaining relationships.
• Proficiency in using computers and automated systems for data management and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a four (4) year degree in a relevant recognized field of engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program and four (4) years of related professional experience, to include one year of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
