What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Policy Analyst - 40 hrs/wk - Days - Detroit position at Henry Ford Health System?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Manager, Health Policy, the Health Policy Analyst will have the responsibility of researching and evaluating policy issues and concepts that may impact Henry Ford Health System (HFHS). This includes reading state and federal legislation and regulations quickly and identifying potential system impacts. He/she must be able to explain significant health policy issues and concepts clearly and succinctly, in the form of white papers, memos, e-mails, or verbal presentations to others. He/she must be able to work without close, daily supervision, and be able to understand and manage competing priorities and deadlines. He/she must enjoy the substantive content of Health Policy laws and regulations and find intellectual challenge in understanding complex, detailed, technical documents.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Master's level education in a related field such as Health Policy, Public Policy or Public Health (with a focus on health care or health insurance) preferred.
- Suitable for someone just receiving a Master's Degree in Health Policy or related field or equivalent work experience in health care delivery, health policy, public health or health insurance.
- Efficiency in Microsoft Office required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good presentation, questioning and listening skills and demonstrated time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while completing work within allocated time frames.
- Knowledge of health policy, public health and the health care industry preferred. Familiarity with state and federal government health policies preferred.
- Experience with value-based payment and delivery models, payment and reform initiatives, health care delivery (hospital, physician practice, etc.) systems or health insurance preferred.
- Strong critical thinking preferred.
