Responsible for the direction and daily management of the Henry Ford Hospice administrative, financial and clinical operations for hospice programs and services. Ensures implementation of the goals, policies and procedures for all activities of Henry Ford Hospice.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the management of the provision of all hospice services, its fiscal operations and continuous quality assessment and performance improvement in accordance with the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement Plan (QAPI).
Ensures the program focuses on indicators related to improved palliative outcomes; takes actions to demonstrate improvement in hospice performance.
Monitors the quality of care and safety in all programs through the QAPI program and ensures the plan is updated yearly.
Consistent with Hospice specific CMS Conditions of Coverage, may be appointed governing body and administrator by the Board of Trustees to assume full legal authority and responsibility for the management of all hospice operations, its fiscal operations, continuous quality and assessment and performance improvement (QAPI).
Responsible for the hospice program, policy and organizational structure formulation. Interprets to the vice president of Henry Ford at Home the implications of proposed programs, policies and organizational structure(s) and industry trends.
Administers and ensures accuracy for business, clinical, operational, financial and marketing activities. Develops, maintains and evaluates systems to accomplish goals and objectives.
Responsible for the planning, direction and evaluation of operations to ensure compliance with legal, accreditation, regulatory and reimbursement standards.
Oversees and contributes to the design, implementation and evaluation of quality assurance/improvement processes, service standards and satisfaction measures.
Responsible for the selection of qualified key management, clinical, professional and clerical staff necessary for quality staffing and for the commitment to quality human resource management.
Works with state and national organizations to promote positive hospice legislation.
Serves on corporate and industry committees and task forces as appropriate.
Participates in professional associations to maintain current on hospice reimbursement, regulatory and accreditation requirements; to ensure optimal coordination and use of resources in the community; and to stay abreast of competitive benchmarks.
Directs the activities of operations leadership team, clinical, business and support staff. Ensures staff development including orientation, continued education and evaluation of staff.
Ensures effective and efficient resource management to provide quality health care, optimal customer satisfaction and favorable business results.
Ensures the provision of leadership to all staff during standard business hours as well as after hours.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other related field to provide familiarity with all facets of nursing services and hospice procedures. Master’s degree in nursing or another related field preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible healthcare management experience.
Interpersonal skills required to provide guidance and supervision to assigned professional, support and clerical staff.
Analytical ability required to evaluate the effectiveness of operational policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
Manual dexterity required in the demonstration of appropriate hospice techniques and the preparation of reports.
May carry, bend, stoop, climb or otherwise be physically active in the course of job duties.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current licensure in the State of Michigan as Registered Nurse, PT, OT, SLP or Social Work required.
