Position Description:
The accounts payable accountant responds to all vendor and jobsite inquiries while maintaining related files and documentation. The accounts payable accountant is responsible for owner billings and subcontractor payments and serves as a gatekeeper for reviewing all employee expense statements and correcting discrepancies.
Position Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Knowledge of construction payroll and accounting principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively engage different personality types.
- Well organized and detail oriented.
- A self-starter and great team player.
- Must be willing to work 40 hours per week plus overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CPA Certified.
- Business or Accounting degree.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Essential Duties:
- Review all invoices, employee expense statements, and subcontracts for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
- Review, process & balance Owner Billings.
- 1099 maintenance.
- Respond to all vendor & jobsite inquiries.
- Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies.
- Assist in month end closing.
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
