POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT (defines the major functions/purpose of the position) 

  • Assumes principal responsibility for the day-to-day interface with government and regulatory institutions as part of the overall Korean and APAC business strategy. Develops relationships with national and regional government officials, enhancing corporate reputation through direct contact and representation of corporate positions. Identifies, analyzes and recommends possible corporate positions involving proposed legislation or regulation impacting the company’s products and / or the business interests of the company. Directly advocates the agreed corporate positions in coordination with contract consultants, local and regional management, as well as with industry trade associations. Ensures every effort is made to see that regulatory and public policy developments are favorable to the company’s commercial interests.
  • Assignments will vary, with a focus on the following areas:: “Developing Public Private Partnerships”, “APAC Content Development and Deployment” “Stakeholder Mapping and Engagement”, “Engagement with Associations, Conferences and Symposia” and “Internal and Cross Functional Engagement”.

 

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 

  • Be fully acquainted with all aspects of the company, its culture, operations, business model, key objectives, global regional and country strategies and business goals, Represents the company to a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop, manage, implement, review and revise an engagement and outreach plan for key stakeholders internally, in government offices elected, appointed or civil service, academia, industry peers, trade associations and groups, NGOs, media, employees and executives, Herbalife Members and any other relevant stakeholder groups or individuals.
  • Develop sound credibility with key targeted government, regulatory, enforcement officials and other key stakeholders. Utilize relationships developed to enhance corporate reputation and to present the company’s position on legislative and public policy issues of importance to the company and its members. 
  • Provide regular detailed assessments of the commercial implications of proposed national regulation & legislation. Discuss these with the regional VP, as well as relevant internal colleagues (Scientific Affairs, Global Regulatory Affairs, Marketing, Sales, Legal etc.)   and devise and implement strategies to protect and advance the company’s interests.
  • In association with colleagues, represent the company on the board and in working groups of professional and trade associations covering Direct Selling, health foods, food supplements, cosmetics, the American Chamber of Commerce and other business organizations, agreed as part of the business plan. Foster good industry relationships to align industry positions with those of the company. Build industry alliances to further promote the company’s business and to strengthen the effectiveness and advocacy work of targeted national trade associations.
  • Proactively collaborate with other functional departments to resolve legal, technical, scientific or policy queries surrounding external and member issues.
  • Serve on and contribute to the country Management Team. Provide regular briefings to internal management at APAC and country level, distilling complex regulatory and legislative issues into clear, concise business messages.
  • Take an active role in assuming projects on an individual and team basis in support of specific departmental and corporate objectives. Provide support for the PA Team operating regionally and globally.
  • Ensure effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage the company’s Korea contract consultants or other assets and take shared responsibility and accountability for the annual departmental budget.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:•   None 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:•   Interacts with all levels within the country, region and global as required to effectively perform function. Represents the company with a wide range of external contacts.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills•   Excellent oral, written and computer communication skills, including fluent English. •   Sound analytical, conceptual and strategic thinking skills.•   Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver against time-sensitive deadlines in the midst of conflicting demands.•   Commitment to achieve excellence with a strong work ethic and results orientation.•   Ability to work independently, analyze complex problems and take initiative.•   Ability to interact effectively at all levels across functions, and an ability to function as an effective team member.

Experience:•   7-15 years’ experience dealing with Korean institutions, industry and/or nutrition policy developments. 

Education:•   University degree(s) in Law, Business, Political Science, Nutrition, Public Health or related field.
