Network Engineer Manager

Short Description

The Network Engineering Manager is a leadership position responsible for overseeing various aspects of Herc Rentals' enterprise network. This role requires profound technical expertise, as well as strategic management capabilities to lead the design, installation, and management of enterprise networking solutions and related components. Additionally, this role will involve providing high-level input on system architecture and design changes, analyzing and resolving system hardware, software, and networking issues.

In addition to technical proficiency, it's crucial that the incumbent comprehends Herc Rentals' business objectives and management priorities. The Network Engineering Manager collaborates closely to develop solutions and processes that align with the diverse needs of the large user community while adhering to the business requirements and Infrastructure Services Portfolio.

Responsibilities

Oversee the configuration, implementation, and support of network installations.
Provide leadership for network support and troubleshooting across the enterprise network.
Collaborate with customers, vendors, and technical teams to identify and cultivate network design, installation, and support opportunities.
Establish and maintain a structured work schedule, including on-call availability, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to network technologies, topology, equipment, and configurations. This includes setting standards, methods, and producing environment drawings.
Deliver timely and accurate project status updates to customer contacts and senior management.
Analyze system reports, error logs, and activities, initiating system enhancements as required.
Provide high-level engineering support for incident and problem management.
Supervise Managed Services to ensure efficient resolution or escalation of network incidents and problems within SLAs.
Cultivate customer relationships, gather and analyze customer needs, assess available resources, and determine optimal solutions.
Develop project plans, estimate resources for project tasks, and manage assigned projects.
Collaborate closely with senior members of enterprise infrastructure teams.
Advise management on technology roadmaps, evaluate vendor products, and make recommendations on product/service selection and system upgrades.
Provide training, education, and mentoring to staff as necessary.
Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and on-call support.
