What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collections Manager position at Hercules Credit Union?
Hercules First Federal Credit Union is currently seeking an experienced and talented individual to lead our collections department. This is a career position opportunity with a growing credit union.
This person will work with our membership and perform all collections and recovery efforts to find and negotiate repayment solutions on delinquent accounts and take additional collections actions when necessary. They will also handle a variety of collections situations such as bankruptcies, repossessions, and legal assignments.

This position will be a combination of remote and onsite work.
Job Duties:
- Review and monitor delinquent accounts daily, making contact with the borrowers to arrange adequate repayment terms.
- Properly and accurately document all collections activities.
- Make recommendations to management of accounts needing escalated collections action.
- Process monthly charge off activities as necessary.
- Assign and monitor accounts for escalated collections activities such as repossession or legal action.
- Coordinate collection activities with credit union attorney and outside collection agencies.
- Assist branches and other departments as required by business needs.
- Maintain a positive attitude and environment throughout the organization.
- Ensure compliance with Hercules’ internal policies, as well as all federal and state regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience & Education:
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in collections.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Outstanding phone and negotiation skills.
Preferred Experience:
- 5 years or more of collections experience.
- Credit union experience highly preferred.
- Spanish speaking a plus.
