What are the responsibilities and job description for the Woodshop Team Member position at Heritage Guitars?
Founded in 1985, Heritage Guitars produces beautiful, high quality instruments in the historic 225 Parsons Street factory in Downtown Kalamazoo. With lots of exciting opportunities ahead we are looking to add the right people to our growing team.
The ideal candidate would have an interest in handcrafted products, a sharp attention to detail and a desire to work within a casual setting. These employees will become trained in several different areas and develop their skills as a craftsman in a fast-paced environment. These positions are full-time and paid an hourly wage. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented and able to meet goals in a fast paced environment.
This position involves but is not limited to, the following listed positions:
- Hand Sand (This person will be responsible for sanding unfinished wood guitar bodies by hand using both an orbital sander and sandpaper to reach the desired finish).
- General wood working (dimensioning lumber, milling parts from wood, assembling parts into subassemblies)
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
Skills, knowledge and qualifications
- Experience with basic hand tools (chisel, scraper, sand paper, etc.), measuring devices (tape measure, caliper, square, ruler)
- Experience with industrial wood working equipment (jointer, shaper table, overarm router, planer, thickness sander, clamps, presses)
- Maintain a positive attitude and remain highly motivated.
- Able to multi-task and be a self-starter.
- Ability to meet or exceed production goals.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; but must have ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time on non-resilient floors (such as concrete shop floor).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and function in a loud environment.
- Good communication skills.
- Displaying dependability by being on-time for scheduled shifts, meetings, mandatory trainings, etc.
- Complete other tasks and duties as required.
Job Type: Full-time
40 hrs. per week/ occasional overtime.
Schedule: 7:00 AM- 3:30 PM
Pay based on relevant experience and qualifications.
