Software Developer (Java)

As a Software Engineer, you will...

• Moderate involvement in the design of critical software components, systems, and features
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
• Create and maintain documentation and specifications
• Write unit, integration, and other relevant tests
• Manage deliverables and deadlines in an agile setting
• Mentor and train other team members on design principles, and coding best practices
• Interact and coordinate deliverables with other technical groups in the organization
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex requirements into implemented code
• Capability to adapt and learn new technologies
• Willingness to learn the Guidewire platform and the Property and Causality Insurance industry

Basic Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Java 
• Working knowledge of frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, etc.
• Experience with building and consuming web APIs, SOAP and REST
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON and Junit.
• Strong relational database knowledge – MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Experience with source repository management including Git, GitHub and Bitbucket.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence a plus.
• 3-5  years of software development experience in Java and related technologies

React developer:

• Perform complex analysis, advanced level design, configuration and develop functions for impactful and high-visibility tasks.
• Take the lead on directing and implementing solutions to moderately complex, loosely scoped problems that are aligned with team goals.
• Deliver efforts both independently and by leading other team members.
• Lead investigation and resolution efforts for critical, high impact problems, defects, and incidents.
• Act as a technology advocate, independently seeking opportunities where technology can be utilized to improve the business.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship while fostering a team environment.
• Apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned efforts.
• Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Willingness to learn the Guidewire Digital front-end framework and the P&C Insurance industry.
