Our successful Body Shops / Collision Centers Controller will oversee the accounting operations of the businesses within a corporate structure. They maintain an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets.

Body Shops / Collision Centers Controller Job Summary:

Reports the financial condition of the 10 Collision Centers to General Manager/Directors regularly and accurately. Provides sales and expense analyses summarizing potential problem areas and opportunities for improved profitability relative to monthly and annual forecasts.

Body Shops / Collision Centers Controller Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
  • Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.
  • Coaching and development of office staff, including hiring and firing.

Body Shops / Collision Centers Controller Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares a complete financial statement monthly according to collision center guidelines.
  • Interprets the financial statement and the daily operating control (DOC) regularly and informs team of developing trends.
  • Reviews the general ledger and scheduled accounts. Notes and investigates any unusual entries.
  • Ensures that all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records and analyses and supervises the preparation of all information.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable government finance regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, retirement plan records, etc.
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
  • Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
  • Coordinates annual audit (or review) and physical inventory.
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.
  • Continually strives to improve data integrity and information reporting throughout the collision centers.
  • Manages the collision management computer system to maximize utilization.
  • Able to travel as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Body Shops / Collision Centers Controller Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Five years or more of related experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
