Help Desk Technician

Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Help Desk Technician in St. Joseph, MO to join our team. The Help Desk Technician is responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Respond to queries, run diagnostic programs, isolate problems, and determine and implement solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

*This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.

  • Monitors and maintains computer systems and networks
  • Talks staff or clients through a series of actions, either face to face or over the telephone to help set up systems or resolve issues
  • Troubleshoots system and network problems
  • Diagnoses and solves hardware or software faults
  • Replaces parts as required
  • Provides support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
  • Follows diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
  • Sets up new users' accounts and profiles and deals with password issues
  • Responds within agreed time limits to call-outs
  • Works continuously on tasks until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)
  • Prioritizes and manages many open cases at one time
  • Rapidly establishes a good working relationship with customers and other professionals
  • Any other tasks and/or directives given by management or management staff
  • Ability to work variable shifts.

  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent computer skills/knowledge required, as well as the ability to solve problems and troubleshoot. Customer service experience also required. Strong communication skills also required, be adaptable, flexible, and open to feedback, team player
  • The position also requires knowledge of basic hardware and software functions and networking. Strong typing/writing skills, as well as organizational skills, are essential.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting desktop & laptop systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot printers and printing issues, VOIP phones, etc.
  • Ability to do basic network/connectivity troubleshooting.
  • General familiarity with Windows active directory, DNS, DHCP, and Print Servers.
  • Willingness to learn new skills

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

  • Frequently use a computer keyboard and office related equipment.
  • Requires occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping or bending.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
