Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking a Safety Intern in Carrolton, TX. Herzog is constructing the Silver Line Project. Its primary purpose is to provide passenger rail connections and service that will improve mobility, accessibility and system linkages to major employment, population, and activity centers in the northern part of the DART Service Area.
As a Safety Intern, you’ll be in the middle of construction operations, giving you direct hands-on learning experiences. Our interns have many of the same day to day responsibilities and expectations as our full-time employees. You will work alongside our project safety manager to learn the construction safety process.

Duties And Responsibilities
- This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position.
- Assist in implementation of the project safety program under the direction of the Project Safety Management.
- Assist in conducting jobsite and work area inspections with the Safety personnel. These inspections to include facilities, jobsites, and equipment.
- Assisting with the corrective measures for all non-compliant activities or conditions identified.
- Assist Safety coordination duties in such areas as safety committees, preplanning meetings, and toolbox meetings.
- Participate in training at safety meetings, toolbox meetings, and orientations.
- Assist in review of subcontractor safety programs for completeness and compliance with policies.
- Assist in promoting safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, Local regulations, and owner/contractual requirements.
- Participating with the near miss/incident investigation process. (Documentation of interviews, documenting incident notes, photographing incident scene).
- Assist in conducting effective worker orientation program for every new employee and administer and record their participation. Intern will assist with administering training and testing throughout these processes.
- Gather pre-task planning and JHA programs for all project contractors based on contractual requirements and log accordingly.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

- Must be flexible in working in both office and field environment as needed.

- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

- Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
- Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by position.
- Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet).
