Heschel Day School, a Community Jewish Day School, seeks an experienced, energetic, flexible, and talented teacher to join our faculty for the 2023 - 2024 school year. The successful candidate will be professional and collaborative, will possess both personal and professional integrity, and will be enthusiastic about participating in our community of lifelong learners.
Responsibilities will include:
Work cooperatively with colleagues in planning and implementing a balanced, innovative, and high-level program
Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and school-wide activities
Establish and maintain standards of excellence for supervision and student engagement
Collaborate with colleagues and administration as needed regarding the social, emotional, and physical development of students
Plan and ensure that curriculum and lessons are geared to meet the needs of multiple levels of ability and a wide range of learners
Maintain successful relationships with families, including phone calls, conferences, Zoom/Google meetings, and written communications
Successful candidates will have the following:
Bachelor’s degree, multiple subject teaching credential, and relevant experience
Knowledge of Wonders Literacy Program and Math in Focus or Singapore Math is desirable
Strong technology skills for communications and instruction, as well as strong written and oral skills (parent communications, progress reports, etc.)
Flexibility to work in multiple settings and in shared spaces
Desire to engender a love of learning as well as a caring, professional demeanor, and the willingness to work as part of multiple teams (General, Judaic, Hebrew, Specialists, and Administration)
An understanding of child development and the unique needs of children at each stage of development
Experience with assessment, both formative and summative
Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with people of all levels in a professional and constructive manner
Enthusiasm for ongoing professional development
High expectations for students, teamwork, and excellence
Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School is a TK through eighth grade Jewish community day school. Its 76,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium/auditorium, a library, a lunch pavilion, an elementary maker/tech lab and middle school media lab, an innovation center, elementary and middle school science labs, a music classroom, an art studio, playgrounds, and an athletic field.
