Hours:  32 Hours, Days/Evenings, Monday - Friday

 

Job Summary

 

Perform a full range of audiological services including screening and diagnostic assessments and hearing aid dispensing and servicing. Maintain appropriate documentation. Assure quality and appropriateness of patient care. Community outreach to promote these services will also be a part of the position.

Responsibilities

Essential   Functions
  • Develops an appropriate care plan for patients based upon the systematic information gathering and analysis.
  • Takes appropriate actions when variations are identified.
  • Assesses the patient’s learning needs, identifies learning style and barriers to learning and assesses the patient’s readiness to learn.
  • Identifies situations when it is appropriate to involve the family and/or significant other and /or friends in patient’s education.
  • Plans for and provides patient teaching.
  • Evaluates the patient’s understanding of his or her condition, treatment, and/or prognosis.
  • Informs the patient of his or her plan of care and/or discharge plan and follow up instructions.
  • Performs Audiological Evaluations on outpatients to determine the presence of an impairment, as well as possible interventions for the same.
  • Communicates findings in the assigned format in accordance with departmental procedures and standards and in an accurate and professional manner. Disseminates results to primary care physician and referral sources, along with recommendations.
  • Counsels patients or parents/guardians regarding hearing aids and payment options to help them make an informed decision.
  • Provides information relative to benefits and limitations of amplification.
  • Meets with patients regularly during the 30 day trial period to train them in the use of their hearing aid, as to make any desired adjustments or recalibrations.
  • Remains available to patients throughout the full year warranty period to monitor and correct any problems that may arise and help maximize their use of amplification.
  • Maintains audiological equipment, assuring adequate and appropriate functioning and calibration.

Qualifications

Job Requirements Minimum Education
  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Audiology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology required
Required Licenses
  • Current MA state Audiologists licensure
