What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Entry position at HF Sinclair?
Basic Function
Performs the physical tasks involved with moving, shipping and receiving materials, parts, supplies and equipment and placing warehouse materials and inventory in their assigned locations under general supervision. Checks goods against shipping orders and for damaged items, performing repairs and equipment maintenance as needed depending on location.
Job Duties
- Coordinates handling of materials from receipt at warehouse dock to site delivery, safely offloading delivered materials, verifying materials are correct as ordered and not damaged, and performing Positive Material Identification (PMI) as required per policy depending on location
- Places materials into correct row/bin or correct staging area; coordinates storage, tracking and delivery of bag & tag (kitted) and other materials; processes returns to inventory; assesses bin space for new inventory; fills customer requests from inventory, issues, rotates and completes cycle inventories as directed
- Ensures safe packaging of outbound shipments, prepares shipping documents, including bills-of-ladings and manifests, ensures correct tagging including MSDS is attached, and contacts carrier representatives to make arrangements to pick up orders
- Updates delivery and shipping information including delivery time windows on computer database system and inputs receipts accurately into inventory system
- Reads shipping orders to determine quantity and type of transportation needed and ensures orders are shipped on correct ship date
- Ensures a safe working environment in accordance with federal regulations and company policies and procedures, attending periodic safety meetings and completing required safety training
- Moves file boxes to file storage warehouse and handles as requested
- Makes runs to town for materials required immediately
- Loads Engineering materials for contractors
- Prepares and maintains all related shipping documentation including requisitions, making photocopies, maintaining filing system and completing forms
- Operates vehicles, forklifts, banding equipment, and hand tools as required for handling, crating and uncrating materials safely and effectively
Other duties may include some or all of the following:
- Monitors all necessary communications as required on an ongoing basis on computer database system, reports any failures or problems to Supervisor/Manager
- Annotates shipping orders to inform shipping department of loading location and transportation time of arrival
- Prepares periodic environmental reports, facility safety reports and Standing Work Authorizations as required
- Completes paperwork for Bin location, description changes and manual count of daily issued material and fills out description change sheets for Warehouse Supervisor
- Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time is their sole and complete discretion
Experience
Must have completed apprentice training which may consist of, depending on location, a specified number of hours of 20 books and/or CBT’s and/or certifications in forklift, safety, HAZMAT general awareness, fire extinguisher, materials handling and chemicals, or 3 to 5 years of on-the-job experience with some experience working with an inventory control system depending on location.
Education Level
A minimum of a High School degree or equivalent is required.
Required Skills
Ability to operate machinery such as a forklift, hand jack and wrapper and vehicles; punctual, dependable, and flexible. Basic math skills. Ability to learn and apply new information and basic skills in area of operations/specialty.
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility
None.
Work Conditions
Non-air-conditioned warehouse; works inside and outside in all weather conditions; physically demanding position requiring a large portion of time spent walking and handling materials on concrete surfaces, stairs, and in & out of vehicles; and handling dirty or rusted materials. Must be flexible to changing work environment between outside work and normal office conditions and able to work outside of normal working hours with minimum advance notice.
Physical Requirements
Job conditions require physically active assignments including walking throughout the day; bending; climbing stairs while carrying materials; lifting up to 50 pounds and group lift 70lbs; operating stand-up and sit-down forklifts in varying weather conditions; handling 55-gallon drums of chemicals; and cylinder gases. Ability to operate and drive all assigned company vehicles at company standard insurance rates is essential – inability to maintain standard insurance rates is grounds for dismissal. Valid State driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
