Position Description

Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager to provide accounting and financial support to the programs of The Home.

Essential Functions

• Preparation and ownership of GL account reconciliations on a monthly basis for monthly general ledger closing.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliation for The Home’s bank accounts.
• Aid the accounting manager for document preparation for the annual audit. Including work paper preparation, audit task scheduling, and communication with internal and external resources to obtain audit information.
• Help oversee the accounting related to donor contributions including: donations, pledges and grants.
• Participates in the development and maintenance of a finance policies and procedures manual.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial information supports The Home’s mission and objectives.
• Help lead initiatives to identify, analyze and optimize existing financial processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness for The Home.
• Attends workshops, training, seminars, etc. in order to remain current with accounting standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 3 to 5 years of accounting experience
• Possesses strong accounting background with a working knowledge of the latest accounting pronouncements and a strong working knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong ability to collaborate with team members.
• Experienced with Microsoft SL Dynamics, Project Billing, and software.
• Experience of Microsoft Office with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel with the ability to learn new software applications.

Physical Requirements

Standard Office setting. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
