Purchasing Specialist

About Us: Hi-Crush is a leading domestic producer, supplier, and distributor of premium Northern White frac sand used to enhance recovery rates of oil and natural gas from hydraulic fracturing wells.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing purchasing in procuring materials, equipment, and services. Ensures contracts are consistent with corporate objectives. Administers and maintains purchase order process.

Essential Functions

• processing requisitions and creating purchase orders; keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future
• conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality
• liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers
• identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them
• negotiating pricing, volume discounts, terms, and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress - checking the quality of service provided
• evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors
• ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives ensuring satisfactory performance, discussing defects and any delivery problems to ensure superior quality and service
• attending meetings

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & ABILITIEs

Education:

Bachelors degree in business preferred or equivalent purchasing experience in production/manufacturing facility or logistics/supply chain sector.

Sufficient education to make appropriate arithmetic equations and complete written documentation and records; or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the desired knowledge, skills and characteristics.

Experience:

Five years of purchasing experience in logistics, supply chain sector or in a manufacturing environment; some supervisory experience. 

Computer Skills:

•   PC Proficiency (Microsoft Word and Excel) 
•   Certifications &
    Licenses
• A valid state driver’s license with no active violations within the previous three years. 

Other Requirements:

Must have ability to communicate effectively, using both written and spoken forms of communication.  Must be a self starter and work with minimal supervision.  Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full time basis and be at least 18 years of age. Must have high safety standard for self and others. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.

 Position requires this activity up to 33% of the time (0 - 2.5+ hrs/day)

1. Frequently Lift/Carry or Push/Pull 50 lbs.

Other Physical Requirements:

1. Regularly required to sit or stand, reach and move about the facility.
