What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Advocate position at Hibiscus Childrens Center?
POSITION FUNCTION/OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for the provision of intensive in-home support services to families whose children are at risk of abuse and neglect. The Family advocate (SFC) serves as a part of a team offering crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, case management, and advocacy.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Provide Support for Families in Crisis services in the family’s own home and community consistent with the needs of family members for 3 to 4 months
Ø Maintain an active caseload of 16 families meeting all contractual requirements.
Ø Provide crisis intervention services to clients and is always available on-call to families including evenings and weekends during the period of service to each family.
Ø Perform case management duties needs advocate on behalf of clients, coordinating with other community-based services for needs of clients.
Ø Provide appropriate referrals for clients and assist in linkage to those referrals as necessary.
Ø Maintain complete, accurate and comprehensible records within a 24-hour time frame.
Ø Compile required reports on families on caseload and submit to director in a timely manner.
Ø Maintain and adhere to all professional, ethical, moral and code of conduct guidelines always.
Ø Provide on-call support as required or scheduled.
Ø Teach family life skills, including budgeting, nutrition, personal hygiene, household maintenance and purchasing.
Ø Teach and assist parents to meet the physical, mental, and emotional needs of their children.
Ø Provide follow up on closed cases, assuring completion of satisfaction survey, self-sufficiency matrix.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Ø High School Diploma required associate degree in social work or related field preferred. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree if enrolled as a degree-seeking student in related human service courses during employment.
Two (2) years’ experience working with families with children.
Ø Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
Ø Valid Florida Driver’s License and proof of insurance
Ø Willingness and ability to travel locally, work a flexible schedule which includes evenings and possibly weekends.
SKILLS:
Ø Basic Computer skills to include Microsoft Word
Ø Excellent Communication skills – verbal and written.
Ø Flexibility – ability to work in a variety of situations.
Ø Organizational skills – ability to schedule activities and complete paperwork.

Pay: $35,000.00 - $36,000.00 per year
