Job Title: Shipping / Receiving Clerk

SUMMARY:
Responsible for all activities of the Material Handling department including shipping, receiving, inventory accuracy, maintenance of WMS software, and associated procedures. Directs, schedules, and coordinates hourly plant employees in the process of warehousing and distribution of raw materials and ground beef products while keeping Safety, Quality, Service, and Profitability in mind at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the movement, verification, and recordkeeping for incoming and outgoing shipments, Maintains protocols of cleanliness, accuracy, and customer service at all times.
- Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution inventories by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, policies and procedures.
- Complies with warehousing material handling and shipping requirements in accordance with the company’s HAACP and Food Safety plans.
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Controls inventory accuracy by conducting physical counts as necessary to reconcile with company’s WMS.
- Manages document completeness and accuracy for all inbound or outbound loads.
- Collaborates with Office Administrator and others to optimize processes.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies ( DOT -USDA)
- Has Coaching Responsibility for seeing that products are handled safely and in the most cost effective manner possible.
- Control absenteeism by supervisory emphasis and counseling as necessary.
- Works with maintenance department to keep equipment in best mechanical operating condition.
- Conducts safety training, direct observations, controls risks/hazards, and conducts accident and incident investigations as necessary.
- Ensures employees are properly trained regarding job responsibilities and safety procedures.
- Works to maintain good morale and positive interactions among associates. Commends/Counsels and administers disciplinary action as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Also must have proven ability to make decisions and follow directions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as regulations, COA, system orders, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to solve complex and or practical problems and deal with a variety of variables and in situations where only limited experience may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
