CAD Designer - Lightning Protection

Hicks Lightning Protection provides turnkey lightning protection and grounding systems for commercial and industrial projects. We service projects throughout the United States and abroad, with offices and employees located in Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Virginia and Nebraska. Hicks Lightning Protection is currently looking to fill the need of CAD Designer, located at our home office in Ponder, TX (located 10 minutes SW of Denton, TX). The CAD Designer will be working closely with our CAD Design Manager and responsible for the following:

• Assist with review of construction drawings and specifications and perform preliminary design review
• Participate with team to design and develop shop drawings of lightning protection and grounding systems
• Coordinate with other personnel to incorporate concepts and information into drawing packages.
• Produce bill of materials for project’s system
• Ability to learn and apply lightning protection standards for design of system on an array of structures.
• Must have working knowledge of CAD standards, PC application software and drafting/engineering practices and methods.
• Other duties may be assigned

• Strong organization, planning and analytical skills and detail-oriented
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to multi-task and problem solve
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Ability to pass a background check and drug & alcohol test
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently with minimal oversight
• Proficient in use of AutoCAD: certified or a minimum of 2 years of experience (current)
• Lightning Protection experience required.
• Certification or Associates in Engineering Technology (Drafting) or minimum of 2 years of experience (current)
• High school diploma or GED

Preferred, not required:

• Experience with Revit, Bluebeam, Procore or other construction management software
• Engineering, architectural or construction experience
• Knowledge of lightning protection & grounding systems
• Understanding of communications/electrical engineering and related systems is a plus
• Understand routing of utilities and placement techniques is a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
