Operations Manager Job Description
Lead the way as an Operations Manager overseeing the manufacturing of industrial systems. You will be responsible for ensuring safety, quality, and operational efficiency while managing dynamic production teams. Your role includes mentoring staff, optimizing processes, and fostering innovation to drive continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities:
Safety: Ensure that all plant operations are conducted in a safe and controlled environment.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, motivate, and support the manufacturing team within a time-sensitive and demanding environment, including career development plans for direct reports and problem resolution.
Supervision: Direct production supervisors on their roles and responsibilities throughout the day.
Inventory and Shipping: Lead inventory management and shipping & receiving efforts.
Employee Development: Promote employee engagement and development to maximize manufacturing, quality, and productivity goals.
Data Management: Manage data collection for updating metrics to achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per machine, eliminate errors and quality issues, and deliver excellent customer service.
Quality and Compliance: Ensure that all quality and regulatory standards, specifications, and policies are met.
Operational Efficiency: Ensure that operational activities remain on time and within budget.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to improve proprietary processes, tools, and systems.
Quality Assurance: Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols.
Engineering Collaboration: Collaborate with design engineering on cost, quality, productivity, and safety-related design improvements.
Staffing and HR: Track staffing requirements, define/modify career paths, process/manage daily balancing for employee labor hours and attendance records, and recruit employees as needed. Communicate directly with HR to ensure employee issues or concerns are correctly addressed and resolved.
Budgeting: Collaborate with finance and the CEO to create a capital budget to ensure that financial allocations and obligations are set, administered, and met.
Vision Implementation: Implement plant-specific vision to assure continuous improvement and understanding of the Company vision.
To excel in this role, you must have a BS in engineering or a related field. You must demonstrate strong leadership skills and possess experience in manufacturing management. A background in engineering or industrial management is required, along with proficiency in ERP systems and financial understanding.
