POSITION: "Anticipated" Administrative Assistant III (FVEC/Specialized Schools) 25 hrs/wk Grade 6 Effective: August 4, 2022
ASSIGNMENT: 10 Month, 198 Days
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: This secretarial work involves a wide variety of duties designed to relieve the Principal of routine administrative details. There is considerable contact with staff, students, parents, the general public, and officials from outside agencies. The assistant to the Principal provides support to other educational support personnel in the building. The employee in this position must possess organizational skills and develop an overview of the total school operations, exercise initiative, independent judgment, and discretion in performing duties, while keeping informed of new procedures. This position requires the employee to maintain confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have business/technical training and administrative assistant experience or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience; district experience preferred.
Must have knowledge and experience in the use of computers, modern office practices, procedures and additional equipment.
Must keyboard accurately and efficiently as well as use various types of software applications.
Must organize work flow to meet deadlines and work with and for several individuals.
Must exhibit leadership qualities.
Must move frequently from work station to counter and nearby office areas as well as other parts of the building.
Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills, and communicate both in person and over the telephone clearly and distinctly with students, staff, parents, the general public and officials from outside agencies.
Must project a positive image of the district to staff, students, parents and others as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
1. Provides administrative assistant services for the Principal by performing all daily oral and written communication tasks.
2. Provides assistance to staff.
3. Serves as a liaison with district staff.
4. Performs duties associated with being a member of the main office team.
5. Maintains attendance reports as needed.
6. Performs notary public duties.
7. Assists in implementation of the building budget.
8. Assists with compiling state and district reports.
9. Continues job performance enhancement by participating in appropriate professional growth opportunities.
