POSITION TITLE: QUALITY ASSURANCE PLANT MANAGER


POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality assurance, food safety, and regulatory compliance in our production facility, including the management of Quality Assurance staff (scheduling, training, labor, and overtime control, etc.). Ensure food safety and product quality standards are met. Ensure GMPs, SOPs, and safe work practices are being met. Demonstrate leadership while functioning as a team player. Support and guide other departments to ensure quality compliance companywide.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports Highland’s mission, vision, strategic plan, goals, and management decisions; establish department mission and goals.
  • Maintains a strong commitment and support of Highland’s global food safety initiative.
  • Follow and understand the standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA, HACCP, and EPA and assures associates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements.
  • Responsible for Food Safety, Quality, Security & Regulatory Compliance.
  • Make provision to ensure fundamental food safety and quality practices are adopted and maintained.
  • Ensure adequate resources are available to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support the development, implementation and maintenance and ongoing improvement of the SQF System.
  • Responsible for ensuring food safety and quality problems reported by personnel are corrected.
  • Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures in the performance of your job functions. Ensure that all Operations team members follow SOPs. Initiate appropriate corrective actions when SOPs are not followed.
  • Works with Production Management on procedural training.
  • Works with Production, Warehouse, Sanitation, and Engineering Management Team on Quality Assurance issues such as GMP’s and the processing of finished products.
  • Implement, and manage FSQS and PRP program and controls to ensure compliance with SQF, government standards and customer expectations.
  • Investigate and Respond to any customer comments, complaints, concerns, problems, and/or questions regarding a quality or sanitation issue.
  • Reviews and analyzes quality of all quality in-process checks (label verification, CCP review, product temperature, etc.) and finished product specifications through record review and sign off verification/validation in Trace Gains.
  • Make Trace Gains updates for Quality tech task and updates to forms needed due to program changes.
  • Work closely with company supervisors to troubleshoot and problem solve productions and/or quality issues. Ensure pre-operational, operational, and post operational documented review of the plant as required to meet HACCP standard.
  • Provides trending for Held Product, Customer Complaints, Foreign Material, Deviations (Product testing, GMP, CCP, PC, and Monthly GMP Facility Walk through deviations),
  • Responsible for final determination of hold/release status of all finished products.
  • Ensure Calibrations Records are up to date. Calibrations are completed yearly including a copy of their Scope of Accreditation. Schedule in house calibrations for some equipment and others are shipped out for calibration.
  • Perform daily walkthroughs of the facility and email findings along with the picture of the location.
  • Mock Recalls are being completed and recorded. Works with SQ Coordinator.
  • Corrective actions are completed for example, swabs, CCP’s, foreign material, pest control, foreign material
  • Verify that these swabs are performed weekly, ATP and APC / review results, QA Lead performs the APC swabbing. Sends an email to the lab to inform them they are on the away.
  • Schedule Emergency Evacuation Yearly for the Facility, updates evacuation / site and process flow maps yearly, with all the changes looking for some assistance this year.
  • Teams with customers’ Quality Assurance Departments to ensure quality requirements are met and understood.
  • Teams with sales department to retrieve customer requested product data, BME sample retrieval and testing.
  • Ensure QA Technicians have adequate and documented training on proper Good Hygiene, Safe Work Practices, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). Supervises Quality Assurance Technicians, provides training, direction, and counseling.
  • Monitors ADP for missed late or early leaves. Approves Timecards
  • Evaluate QA Technician performance and offering regular feedback.
  • Create COA’s for outgoing orders and Extension Letters as needed.
  • Assists Research and Development with expanding product line through reviews of competitive samples as well as using new raw materials. Works with Research and Development in making changes to current product line.
  • Member HACCP Team and SQF Team.
  • Manage and direct the routine workload of the QA Lab. Schedule staff to cover all areas, which include shifting staff schedules when necessary to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Maintain Environmental and Product Testing program
  • Manages Pest Control system. Serves as primary contact for pest control provider. Monitors Pest Control Data and assures preemptive and corrective actions are taken. Report on trends
  • Complete other activities as assigned by the Director of Quality.


Education and Experience
:

  • This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years applicable plant quality assurance/operations experience.
  • This position requires knowledge of Federal regulations regarding food manufacturing including HACCP, GMPs, Allergen, Product Labeling, SSOP’s, Recall/Withdrawal. Experience with plant inspections including third party (i.e., AIB) and city, state and federal is required.

Salary : $52,800 - $66,800
